A fifth of kids in the UK have their own internet access by just 8 years old! – Study

Twenty percent of children in the UK have their own access to the internet by the time they are 8 years old, according to The Times. Google and Vodafone commissioned a report, The Digital Lives, and found that young people are letting technology take over their lives. It shows that the average teenager in the UK has six digital devices and sends more than 180 messages a week! This research showed that children’s Internet usage increases greatly when they leave primary school to move to secondary school. It recommends that teenagers should take ‘digital time-outs’ as technology starts to encroach on offline activities such as socialising, school and sleeping.

Have you noticed a sharp increase in your kids usage of the internet in recent times? Do you think the internet audience is getting younger and younger? Do you agree with it?
