What happens on installation day?
Before your installation takes place, you may find it useful to watch our What to Expect From Your Installation video, which explains the installation process and what you can expect on the day.
The engineer installs the connection and equipment needed for your WightFibre service. The cable route and equipment positions are agreed with you.
Installation can involve equipment inside and outside the property. Before the visit, clear access to likely work areas and tell the team about access restrictions or permissions.
Check your booking information for the appointment window. The amount of work depends on the property, so a typical installation time is not a guaranteed completion time.
If you rely on a phone-connected alarm or care device, speak to its provider and WightFibre before the service changes.
How long does installation take?
The time needed for an installation can vary depending on your property and the work required.
Please allow enough time for the engineer to complete the installation and make sure someone is available at the property.
If you’ve been given specific information about your appointment, please follow the details provided to you.

Can I change my installation date?
If you need to change your installation appointment, please contact out Sales team as soon as possible.
We’ll check the available appointments and explain your options.
Do I need to be at home for my installation?
Please make sure someone over the age of 18 is at home for your installation as property access will be required.
Where will my equipment be installed?
The best position will depend on your property and the work required.
If you have a preferred location for your router or other equipment, discuss it with your engineer before the installation starts.
Think about where you’ll use Wi-Fi most often. Where equipment is positioned can make a difference to Wi-Fi coverage around your home.
Do I need to do anything before my installation?
Make sure the engineer can easily access the areas where work may be needed.
It’s also worth thinking about where you’d ideally like your broadband equipment to be positioned so you can discuss this with your engineer.
Can I choose where my router goes?
If an engineer is installing equipment inside your home, tell them where you’d prefer your equipment to be located before the work starts.
They’ll be able to discuss what’s possible based on your property and the installation required.
It’s worth thinking about Wi-Fi coverage too. An open position can help your Wi-Fi reach more of your home.
