Forget spending the weeks before your holiday learning the local ‘lingo’, you can now download an app which allows you to scan different languages and translate them instantly.
Google Translate is now available on iOS and Android devices and boasts the ability to translate over 103 different languages including Afrikaans, Finnish, French, Spanish, German and even Chinese.
Google translate can work by speaking into the app, photographing text that you wish to translate or even using the camera to translate in real time. A particularly impressive feature of the app is that is can also recognise you writing directly into the app and translate handwriting for 93 different languages.
