The Abbey Road Crossing Cam

Abbey Road is the oldest, and probably most recognisable recording studio in the world. It’s incredible history spans the invention of stereo, the experimental music of Pink Floyd and even includes the creation of film scores for movies such as Star Wars and Skyfall.

Above all else the studios are undeniably most famous for numerous recordings by the Beatles, especially their album which is titled ‘Abbey Road’ after the studios. The album artwork features the ‘Famous Four’ walking across the zebra crossing which is outside Abbey Road (right) and has been parodied many times over the years.

The zebra crossing has become such an institution that there has been a live web cam set up now for several years. You can take pleasure in watching visitors trying to recreate the album cover whilst dodging busses and taxis. There is always someone trying to take a  photo of their friends or family on the crossing and it’s a fun live feed to bookmark for your downtime.

If you’ve visited the crossing recently, you can even look back through the archives to see if you were caught on camera for the world to see. You can then save or share the image directly from the site and if you’re lucky, you might be featured on their Wall of Fame.
