Cycle to raise money for local charities

An exciting new app from Bicycle Island is promising to make the cycling route from Cowes to Newport the UK’s first SMART cycling corridor. The app is designed to be used as a community effort. Those that cycle the route and have downloaded the app will be able to log their journeys and work towards a set overall goal which will then reward local charities when the targets are hit. The app is free to download on both Android and iOS devices and is also free to sign up to and use.

The Bicycle Island app contains many more features than just logging your bicycle journey, it also shows you guides to local points of interest along the route, nature facts, live map information and enables you to build teams of up to six people. There is even a leaderboard for those who are more competitive.

The current target has been set and is being funded by Red Funnel who are sponsoring riders 10p per kilometre ridden and if their target of 2,000 kilometres is met then they will double the sponsorship money. Red Funnel are sponsoring this particular target to raise funds for Ventnor Skatepark.

To get involved, visit www.bicycleislandapp.co.uk and download the app now. You can also join us on Facebook or Twitter and share your progress, we’d love to see how far you’ve ridden.
