Explore the BBC Archives online

The BBC Archives contain more than 10 million hours of content, so it’s great to see some footage find its way online. This new website from the BBC, curated by the team behind the Archive’s social-media accounts, unearths a host of gems from days gone by.

“BBC Archives manages one of the world’s largest multimedia archives. Our mission is to preserve content so that it can be re-used. Our vision is to have an open archive, fit for a digital world.”

The homepage contains an eclectic selection – just click one to showcase the video in question along with some related content. This generally means more video but there are also articles, quizzes and links to other archives, which makes the site feel like a genuinely comprehensive labour of love, rather than a random database of television clips.
