WightFibre Shortlisted for Two Prestigious Business Awards

Wightfibre have been shortlisted for two Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for Excellence. Shortlisted for Employer of the Year Award and Excellence in Customer Service Award.

WightFibre are proud to be recognised as offering the best service standards across the industry, from initial customer contact and communication with sales to the install teams and ongoing support from the Customer Service team. In 2018 WightFibre became the first on the Isle of Wight to become a member of The Institute of Customer Service. With a strong procedure and open channels to gain valuable customer feedback they encourage all customers to provide independent feedback through TrustPilot (where we score 9.4/10) in addition to 82% of customers seeing the service provided as ‘Excellent’. Wightfibre ‘because we care’ ethos is at the heart of all they do, inherent in the teams, the decisions made, the investment and the strides taken every day by the team to deliver ‘Gigabit Island’ to the Isle of Wight, something that will catapult the island into the front line of the new digital economy.

Cowes based WightFibre has shown significant growth and improvement to the business. The investment of £35m in ‘Gigabit Island’ is significant to them, their customers and the island – bringing ultra-fast broadband speeds to almost 65,000 homes and businesses across the island by 2021, including areas of the island not previously served by WightFibre and one of the largest civil engineering projects on the Island for 20 years. As a direct result of this investment the team has now grown to 50 and is set to increase. A team that all primarily live and work on the Island. In addition, the company operates a policy to employ locally where possible, a further testimony to its commitment to the island. Wightfibre operate OfficeVibe an Employee Engagement survey. This platform emails all staff on a weekly basis to gather feedback and insight into how they are feeling and any suggestions they wish to make. The latest overall score of employee engagement is 7.4/10  which is better than most companies out there. Offering a wealth of benefits to the team including Training and personal development, gym membership, social activities, flexible working and we recognise long serving employees. WightFibre demonstrate that the team is important to the organisation and its success and to reinforce they work for one of the islands leading organisations.

“It’s an incredible shortlist that has given our panel of judges an incredibly hard job,” says the Chamber’s Chief Executive Steven Holbrook. “The number of entries has doubled this year and the standard of entries has never been higher. Our new panel of eighteen expert judges from the Island and across the UK were very impressed by the calibre of entries. Drawing together the shortlist, based on independent judges scores, has meant that some very good businesses have narrowly missed out on a nomination this year. Being nominated really is a huge achievement and we’re set for a highly competitive evening. Congratulations to all of our nominees.”

John Irvine Wight Fibre CEO says “We are delighted to be shortlisted at this year’s Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Business Awards For Excellence. It is great to be nominated alongside some of the Island’s success stories and is testament to the achievements WightFibre have made in the last few years. We wish all those nominated the best of luck.”

The prestigious awards will be presented at a glittering ceremony, hosted by Anneka Rice, on Friday November 30th at Cowes Yacht Haven.
