This morning (4th April 2017), Wightfibre CEO John Irvine appeared on Isle of Wight Radio’s breakfast show to discuss the second Child of Wight Awards with host Paul Topping, sponsored by WightFibre.
John opened by explaining the importance behind Wightfibre’s slogan ‘Because we care’ and how excited he is that they are able to sponsor the awards again this year. John said:
“Every single employee of our company lives here on the Island (Island born and bred), so we want to give back into our community and sponsoring the Child of Wight Awards will allow us to recognise some of the absolutely amazing young people that we have here on the Island.“
John went on to talk to Paul Topping about how the awards are fantastic because they don’t just celebrate young people who are good at things such as top sports participants or musicians, but they also recognise the children that have grown-up too soon due to the adverse circumstances that they have had to face.
Paul Topping agreed, saying the awards are:
“…about rewarding and thanking the children, because they are unsung heroes.”
Before the interview concluded, John announced the very exciting news that Wightfibre are giving away free Isle of Wight Festival tickets to all new customers. For existing customers they will be holding a prize draw to give away five pairs of weekend tickets in May (details to follow).
